A Thanksgiving Message from Our Pastor and First Lady

Reverend Raymond F. Edmonds, Jr. and Reverend Jerri D. Edmonds

Greetings Union Bethel Family!

“In everything give thanks because it’s the will of God concerning you in Christ Jesus.”

thanksgiving 2903166 640As we ponder over these eleven months we’ve been faced with so many conflicts, challenges, and changes. After our doors had been closed for 24 months, we returned to in person worship as we continue to deal with the continued challenges of COVID-19, the transition of new leadership and the daily struggles of everyday life.  We remain grateful as we realize that through it all the Lord has sustained us.

As we celebrate this season of harvest we can’t help but be thankful for all the Lord has done. Yes, we’ve had some ups and downs and we have been faced with much pain as we look at the condition of our community and world, but despite the pain every provision has been made for us. The hymnologist penned the words, “Morning by morning new mercies I see; All I have needed thy hand have provided: Great is thy faithfulness, Lord unto me.”

In Scripture, harvest represents for us provisions and blessings. As we prepare and reflect on this season make sure you take the time to reflect on all that the Lord has provided.  As you prepare to gather with family, as you prepare your favorite dishes and as you prepare to travel near or far, set aside time to thank God for all the many blessings bestowed upon you and your family.  My grandmother would say, “count your blessings and name them one by one.”

Rev. Jerri and I pause to celebrate the blessing that you have been in our lives.  Our lives are made richer because we are family.  We are grateful for your love towards us and we are grateful that you have received us as a part of your family.  Thank you for all that you do every day for the growth of Union Bethel and everything that you do to make life better for those around you.  “We always thank God for you and continually mention you in our prayers.” 1 Thessalonians 1:2 (NIV)

We pray that you will have a blessed Thanksgiving filled with joy, laughter and fun.  Please spend quality time with those that you love as you enjoy great food and fellowship.  Remember that we are still in the midst of a pandemic so please be cautious and stay healthy.

Much Love,

Pastor Edmonds and First Lady, Rev. Jerri
