Apprenticeships and technical education help build a strong and skilled workforce. It was great to join the A. Philip Randolph Institute and Baltimore City Mayor Brandon Scott at this year's A. Philip Randolph Institute National Education Conference to highlight how Maryland is improving education and growing trade careers. I am proud of the work that we have done in the General Assembly and will continue to ensure that Maryland's students have the resources needed for a world class education.
It was a pleasure to welcome the Speaker from New South Wales, in Australia, The Honorable Jonathan O'Dea. Speaker O'Dea was joined by Mark Webb, the CEO of the Department of Parliamentary Services. We had a productive conversation about legislative issues and practices and challenges that both our chambers are addressing.
In addition to welcoming the Prime Minister of Australia, I had the pleasure of greeting future political and civic leaders from Azerbaijan in the House Chambers. This cultural exchange sponsored by Open World Program provide an opportunity for these future leaders to learn more about our legislative process.
