The Church School was established at Union Bethel in 1961 under the pastorate of Rev. William N. Edwards. Sunday school classes are available for all ages from preschool through high school and adults. The Union Bethel A.M.E. Church School Mission is to teach, train, nurture, prepare and recruit children and adults in God’s word for Christian Service. This teaching is to assist them with effective living and Christian leadership in a changing society.

We follow the Great Commission:  Matthew 28:18-20Jesus said, “All power is given unto me in heaven & in earth. Go ye therefore, an teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you.”

Programs and Curriculum

The Union Bethel A.M.E. Church School curriculum offers a robust spiritual education, from elementary teachings with colorful pictures to advanced insights paired with sophisticated Biblical art. It engages students in discussions and activities that deepen their understanding, fostering attitude and behavior changes.

Designed for youths in early to late adolescence, the program encourages them to pursue spiritual growth beyond home, church, and school, equipping them with the wisdom to make godly decisions.

Cradle Roll

The Cradle Roll program teaches toddlers Biblical truths through music, Bible stories and activities. We teach toddlers about God as they sing, enjoy stories, color pictures and play. At Union Bethel, children learn the truths of God’s Word and develop the character to listen, obey and share.

Kindergarten

The curriculum integrates scripture lessons, songs, and art projects, along with family activities, to vividly showcase the Bible’s key stories and figures. This engaging blend fosters a deep spiritual foundation, promoting active faith exploration and growth in students and families alike, setting the stage for lifelong religious engagement.

Elementary

Union Bethel elementary youth participate in a special program designed to explore the Holy Scriptures and different aspects of Christ’s life in ways appropriate for each age and grade level. The lessons often follow the themes used for sermons in church so adults and children may share and discuss teachings with one another.

Middle/High School

Middle- to High school students meet to discuss their studies in Biblical lessons and the truth of God’s Word. Teen youth join together for thought provoking discussions about their Christian faith and its relationship to their lives.

Adults

At Union Bethel, each of our adult classes has in-depth studies that bring us closer to understanding God’s word. Our programs are designed to help adults live a more meaningful and fulfilling Christian life.
